A snowy alpine ceremony at Mount Crichton, emotional vows, Fireball shots, a champagne spray, and a second-day five-landing helicopter adventure across some of the most breathtaking peaks in the Southern Alps, Bryne & Jade's Queenstown elopement is the kind of story we'll tell for years.

A Cloudy Wedding Day That Turned Into Something Unforgettable

The original wedding date arrived with low cloud across the Remarkables and Cecil Peak. In Queenstown, mountain conditions can change quickly, especially when helicopters and high-country ceremony sites are involved. But instead of letting the weather take away from the experience, Bryne and Jade leaned into it, and their wedding day became more cinematic than anyone could have planned.

With their two friends by their side, the couple exchanged vows in the snow at Mount Crichton, a private alpine landing site just minutes by helicopter from Queenstown. Soft cloud wrapped the peaks, fresh snow surrounded the ceremony circle, and the whole moment felt intimate, wild and completely true to the spirit of a destination elopement in New Zealand.

An Emotional Snowy Ceremony Full of Laughter

Their ceremony was led by Queenstown celebrant Philippa Cook, who created a warm, relaxed atmosphere even at altitude. The vows were honest and emotional, the laughter came easily, and the whole ceremony felt personal rather than overly formal.

One of the funniest moments came when Jade's veil turned out to be far too long for the snowy conditions, her bridesmaid stepped in and cut it on the spot with a pair of scissors. Spontaneous, hilarious, and one of those perfectly imperfect moments that makes a real wedding story feel alive.

After the ceremony, the couple celebrated in their own style: Fireball shots in the snow, followed by a champagne spray that sent gold spray across the white peaks. It was relaxed, fun, full of personality, exactly the kind of memory couples come to Queenstown for when they choose an adventure elopement over a traditional wedding.

Photography by Heli Elopements & Cinematography by Eureka Films

The wedding was photographed by the Heli Elopements team and filmed by our trusted cinematography partners Eureka Films. Because the day had snow, movement, raw emotion and dramatic mountain weather, both stills and film played an important role in preserving the full feeling of the experience.

Photography captured the intimacy and scale of the alpine ceremony; videography brought the sound, motion, vows, laughter, champagne spray and adventure energy together into a cinematic Queenstown wedding film. For a helicopter elopement, that combination matters, the day is not only about how it looked, but how it _felt_ standing on a snowy peak with the person you love.

When the Weather Changed, Our Planning Team Built a New Plan

Because the cloud limited the original flight plan, our planning team arranged for hair and makeup to be re-done the following morning so Bryne and Jade could continue the rest of their helicopter adventure feeling like a bride and groom, not like the wedding was already over.

This is one of the biggest advantages of working with an experienced Queenstown wedding planning team. A helicopter wedding involves a lot of moving parts: weather, aircraft availability, hair and makeup timing, photography, videography, transport, ceremony logistics, and remote landing access. When something shifts, the experience needs to be protected calmly and quickly.

Day Two: A Five-Landing Helicopter Adventure in Wedding Clothes

The next morning, Cristian from the Heli Elopements team collected Bryne and Jade from their accommodation and took them back to the helipad. The goal for day two was simple and ambitious: complete an epic five-landing alpine adventure in full wedding attire.

They flew to some of the most photographed alpine locations in the Queenstown and wider Wanaka region:

- Lake Erskine, a remote hanging lake above Glenorchy with mirror-still water

- Coromandel Peak, the iconic Wanaka summit overlooking Lake Wanaka and Mount Aspiring

- Earnslaw Burn, a dramatic glacial valley of waterfalls beneath Mount Earnslaw

- Plus two further alpine landings deep in the Southern Alps

Each landing brought something different, dramatic peaks, alpine lakes, sweeping ridgelines, waterfalls and snow, the kind of landscapes that make New Zealand destination elopements feel otherworldly. Instead of being limited to one ceremony location, Bryne and Jade's story moved fluidly from a snowy Mount Crichton ceremony to a full Southern Alps helicopter experience across two days.

Why a Multi-Landing Queenstown Helicopter Wedding Feels So Different

A multi-landing helicopter wedding isn't just about taking more photos, it creates a fundamentally different kind of wedding day. The couple gets time to breathe, explore, laugh, move, and truly take in the scale of the place they've travelled so far to experience.

For Bryne and Jade, the extra landings gave their story variety and depth. A snowy ceremony, alpine lake portraits, dramatic mountain backdrops, glacial waterfalls and cinematic film moments all became part of the same wedding gallery. It made their day feel larger than a standard wedding while staying deeply intimate and meaningful.

The Couple's Reaction

After the wedding, Bryne and Jade shared that it was the _best wedding experience they had ever been part of_, even compared to weddings of close friends they had attended as guests. They told us the photos exceeded their expectations and that the videography was spectacular.

For our team, that's the real measure of success: not only beautiful images, but an experience the couple will talk about for the rest of their lives.

A Real Queenstown Wedding That Shows What Is Possible

Bryne and Jade's day is a perfect example of how a Queenstown helicopter wedding can adapt to weather, stay deeply personal, and become even more memorable than the original plan. Whether you're dreaming of a simple one-landing ceremony or a full multi-landing adventure like theirs, Queenstown and Wanaka remain two of the most spectacular places on earth to elope.
