A spring Queenstown wedding at Stoneridge Estate: a two-landing helicopter adventure with Heliworks to Coromandel Peak and a secret snowy alpine location, a ceremony with their private-hire priest, sunset portraits, emotional speeches and a reception full of dancing, Joy & Hubert's day is a true New Zealand destination wedding celebration.

A Spring Wedding Celebration in Queenstown

Joy and Hubert stayed in Queenstown for their wedding, surrounded by the people closest to them. Unlike a private elopement, their day was a full destination wedding celebration with family and friends, giving them the best of both worlds: an intimate mountain adventure and a meaningful gathering at one of Queenstown's most beautiful venues.

Spring in Queenstown is one of the most magical seasons to get married. The peaks still hold snow, the valleys turn green, the days lengthen, and the light through the afternoon is some of the softest in the country. For a spring wedding in Queenstown, the combination of snow-capped mountains and warming valley colour creates a backdrop that feels both alpine and romantic.

A Two-Landing Helicopter Adventure Before the Ceremony

Before returning to Stoneridge Estate for the ceremony, Joy and Hubert flew with Heliworks for a two-landing Queenstown helicopter wedding adventure. Lifting off from Queenstown, they traded valley views for ridgelines and alpine peaks within minutes, the kind of cinematic start that only a helicopter wedding day can deliver.

A pre-ceremony heli experience is one of our favourite ways to design a Queenstown wedding day. It gives the couple time to breathe together, take in the scale of the landscape, and create portraits that feel completely different to anything captured back at the venue.

Landing One, Coromandel Peak, Wanaka

Their first landing was at Coromandel Peak in the Wanaka region, one of the most iconic helicopter-access ridgelines in New Zealand. Overlooking Lake Wanaka, Roy's Peak and the Mount Aspiring range, Coromandel Peak is a location that instantly makes a wedding gallery feel cinematic.

For couples planning a Queenstown or Wanaka helicopter wedding, Coromandel Peak is one of those landings that elevates the entire day. It's adventurous, elegant, and visually unforgettable. We've written a longer guide on why Coromandel Peak is the ultimate helicopter wedding destination for couples weighing it up.

Landing Two, A Secret Snowy Mountain Location

Their second landing was at a secret snowy alpine location known only by Heli Elopements. The exclusivity of a private landing site adds a layer of adventure and intimacy that's hard to replicate, and it gave Joy and Hubert a snowy backdrop that contrasted beautifully with the spring atmosphere waiting for them back at Stoneridge Estate.

It also gave their wedding gallery real variety: soft venue moments, alpine ridgelines, fresh snow scenes, and sunset portraits later in the day. The mix is exactly what makes a Queenstown helicopter wedding feel like more than a single moment in time.

Ceremony and Reception at Stoneridge Estate

After the helicopter adventure, Joy and Hubert returned to Stoneridge Estate for their wedding ceremony, led by their private-hire priest and shared with family and friends. There's something quietly powerful about returning from the mountains and stepping into a ceremony surrounded by the people you love, adventurous and grounded all at once.

Stoneridge Estate is one of the most loved Queenstown wedding venues for couples who want a romantic setting with lake and mountain views, accommodation, ceremony space and a reception all in one location. It allows the wedding day to flow naturally from vows to portraits to celebration without long drives between locations.

Sunset Photos, Emotional Speeches, and a Night of Dancing

After the ceremony, the celebration continued with an amazing Queenstown wedding reception at Stoneridge Estate. The evening was full of dancing, emotional speeches, laughter, and many small candid moments that made the celebration feel alive.

As the sun softened across the estate, we slipped away with Joy and Hubert for a sunset portrait session, quiet, warm-lit images that became some of our favourite frames from the entire day. A sunset portrait window is one of the simplest details to plan, but it consistently produces the most romantic photographs of a Queenstown wedding gallery.

Why Combine a Queenstown Venue With a Helicopter Adventure

A Queenstown destination wedding at a venue like Stoneridge Estate gives families a meaningful place to gather, eat, speak, and dance. A helicopter adventure gives the couple a private, cinematic chapter that's entirely their own. Combining both, exactly as Joy and Hubert did, creates a wedding story with depth and contrast: alpine and intimate, adventurous and grounded, romantic and celebratory.
